Economic Returns through Market Intervention

Till now villagers were getting returns only from nationalized NWFPs like Tendu patta, Sal Seed, Harra, Gums etc. But after establishment of PPA, villagers will get returns from non-nationalized NWFPs also. Buy-back-guarantee agreement between village Samitis and purchasers are being encouraged and encouraging results are coming out.

Following agreements with different purchasers have been done:

Eco- Tourism

Forests of Dhamtari are a great repository of biological diversity and various centers of cultural and religious importance. The combination of these natural and religious heritage will form a nuclei of eco-tourism. The life-line of Chhattisgarh and Orissa states, Mahanadi, is born in deep jungles of Dhamtari district. The place is famously known as Mahamaya, which is 70 km. away from Dhamtari. Major reservoirs like Gengral, Rudri, Sondhur, Madamsilli and Dudhava attract people round the year. Madamsilli reservoir is the only siphon system reservoir in Asia. Dhamtari forests have been abode of rishis and saints. Many hills are named after them like Angira Rishi Pahad, Muchkund Maharaj Pahad, Shringi Rishi Pahad which are just about 80 km away from Dhamtari. Famous Sitanadi and Udanti sanctuaries are bordering the proposed PPA. The most endangered wild life species like wild buffaloes are found in Udanti sanctuary. Sitanadi sanctuary is a center of biodiversity.
